청도 불령사(佛靈寺)


Cheong-do(淸道郡) is one of cities in Gyeong-san-buk Do

The city is close to Gyeong-ju, the capital of Silla(BC 57∼AD 935) in which so many historical remains are left.

Bul-ryeong Temple(佛靈寺) is located on a mountain in Mae-jeon, Cheong-do.

The temple is famous for its pagoda which made of bricks because the brick pagoda is not common in Korea because most of pagoda are made of stone in Korea.

It is worth noting that bricks of this pagoda even has embossments on it.

However, this pagoda has re-built as different shapes two times before.

Some embossments show a constructure which seems to be of Silla Period.

The person who made this pagoda is a Buddhist monk named Yang-ji(良志), 

who is depicted as a talented artist in .
